Why do so many people like salt sprays? How should you use them correctly? And what hair are they suitable for? We will now try to answer these and other questions. But let’s go step by step.
Let’s start with the basics. Remember what effect sea water has on our hair? It becomes wavy, slightly tousled, denser, and somewhat lifted at the roots. And if, in addition, a pleasant sea breeze blows! An alluring look is assured, without a doubt! But what to do if there’s no way to find yourself by the sea at the wave of a magic wand, and the desire to get an impressive beach hairstyle is still there? The solution is that very salt spray! This product provides light, pliable hold and helps create a “beach effect” on the hair, as if you have just come out of the sea. The hair gets attractive waves, additional density, and volume thanks to the salt component in the spray’s formula.
HOW TO USE A SALT SPRAY?
You will get a more pronounced effect if you apply the spray to damp hair—regardless of whether your hair is straight or curly. On straight hair, a salt spray will add a lightly wavy texture; and if nature has endowed you with curls, then you have an excellent opportunity to enhance your natural curls, giving them a slightly tousled effect.
Methods of using a salt spray on damp hair are more or less similar to each other, though they can vary here and there. We’ll share the most common one.
SALT SPRAY ON DAMP HAIR:
Step 1. Wash your hair with shampoo (don’t forget to apply conditioner)—preferably from a moisturizing line. Let your hair dry a bit.
Important: the hair should remain damp, not wet.
Step 2. Shake the spray well before use!
Step 3. Spray the product and shape your hair with your hands. Leave it to air-dry or blow-dry it: you can use a diffuser, or simply scrunch the strands with your hands. It’s up to you!
SALT SPRAY ON DRY HAIR:
You can also apply salt spray to dry hair. This is very convenient, for example, when you’re in a hurry but still want to add a bit of density and create a light beachy wave.
ADVANTAGES OF A SALT SPRAY:
It’s no surprise that salt sprays are so popular—especially in summer! However, when choosing a salt spray, pay attention to its composition. Make sure it contains caring components and natural oils that will provide your hair with protection, nourishment, and hydration.
Be careful: as is known, salty water dries out hair. Quality salt sprays will not dry hair out the way concentrated sea water does, but if your hair is brittle and over-dried, it’s better to refrain from using such a product. Or take breaks, while not forgetting to apply protective oils and serums to the hair.
A salt spray will, of course, not replace a seaside vacation, but this product will help you create a flawless beach look that it’s impossible to take your eyes off!
